Oh my goodness! Only 15 days until Christmas! Where has the time gone? I can hardly believe I graduated almost seven months ago, let alone all the fun stuff that has happened in between. Christmas once again marks the end of the year, and a new year will begin. And will fly by once more as well. But the real question is, will we still be here by December 25, 2012? And you are probably saying, “What is she going on about?” So I suppose I will explain myself. Back in the ancient times, the Mayan race decided to build a calendar that went way beyond their years, a calendar that just happens to end on Dec. 23, 2012. This date has sparked a whole trend of “end of the world” type items; from movies about it (2012 starring John Cusack), and even as far as hip hop artists creating songs about “party like it’s the end of the world.” God bless these simple-minded people for creating a pandemic to scare those who are already terrified. One of my friends from college is so terrified of the end of the world, if anyone says the words “2012” she curls up in the fetal position. Why would somebody get so scared that they couldn’t physically function? If the world is going to end, crying about it is not going to stop it. Look to the past for a great example. How many people freaked out over Y2K? Lots and lots of people did. And what happened? Absolutely nothing. So tell me, what was the point in worrying yourself sick that you just wasted time and energy out of a perfectly good day. Back in the New Millennium days, I was too young to figure out why people were running around saying their computers were going to kill them. I still have no idea what the huge deal was, and even though I’m old enough to understand 2012, I don’t see the big deal. Personally, I kinda want something to happen; something that involves people dying and coming back to life as zombies. There are other theories as well that don’t involve the world imploding. And I do believe something is going to happen. Maybe our economy will collapse, heaven knows it is going in that direction anyway. Or maybe World War III will begin, or maybe the USA will take over Canada, or maybe Quebec will finally declare themselves their own country. No matter what happens though, don’t be scared of it. Time is going to fly by, as we’ve seen being that it’s December 10 today and I’m pretty sure when I woke up yesterday it was the 1st. Let time fly, or drag on. Live your life. Don’t spend life regretting the past or dreading the future.
