Students at Burdett School will have more opportunities for field trips and other activities after parents and members of the community came out in full force to support the school's annual fundraiser dinner and auction.
More than 300 people packed into the Burdett Community Hall last Thursday evening to show their support which helped raise approximately $11,000 for activities for the students.
“The funds are used for field trips and Arts/Dramas projects. Traditionally, we use some of it to bring in the Missoula Theatre,” said Cory Nelson, chair of the parent council.
The annual fundraiser started about a decade ago as a way to raise funds for the activities and it has become a popular event in Burdett.
Auctioneer Louie Caldwell travels from Fort Mcleod every year to provide his services for the event.
“Well, I used to live around here, so the interest is there. We have had a lot of fun doing this every year. We really enjoy it and the ringmen (Gerald Reimer and Brent Reimer) are the key to making it successful,” said Caldwell.
“It is also nice just to be able to come and participate,” he added.
