The mayor of Foremost is excited to be seeing a few housing starts in the village and is hopeful there will be a few more over the next year.
“We have had four new housing starts and by the sounds of it, there will be one or two more. We are excited that people are moving into our community,” said mayor Ken Kultgen. A number of companies are planning on doing some testing on their unmanned vehicles in the coming year in the Foremost area. “Some of these unmanned vehicles are about the width of a pick-up truck and their applications can be used in agriculture, forestry, defense; lots of different areas. It will be an interesting year in that regard,” said Kultgen. Based out of Medicine Hat, CCUVS (Canadian Centre for Unmanned Vehicle Systems) is a not for profit company geared to promoting, facilitating, and sustaining the unmanned vehicle systems sector in Canada. Still more than a year away, the people of Foremost have been busy planning their 2013 Centennial celebrations. “We are gearing up for our 100th anniversary in 2013 and have been having meetings for that,” said Kultgen. One of the annual highlights for Foremost is their annual rodeo, which draws in amateur riders and ropers and spectators from across southern Alberta. “It brings out a lot of local riders and ropers and it is kind of nice to have them compete for the local people,” he said. |
