Southeast Alberta Rdiers will be holding their annual spring poker run on May 1 to help raise money for less fortunate.
The group, with about 17 current members, holds bike rallies and poker runs throughout the year as a way to give back to the community and to address the misconception often held about motorcycle enthusiasts.
"We have members from Medicine Hat, Redcliff, Foremost, Seven Persons and Lethbridge, and this is just our way of doing something good for somebody who really needs a bit of help," said Crash, one of the members.
"We try to have monthly meetings and plan out our rides and every member has a voice. And, the money we raise from these runs goes to charity," he added.
Last year's poker run saw more than 300 riders who raised money for a wheelchair for a Bow Island boy,
"The boy's mom had $5,500 coming from the government to help cover the cost, but she needed another $1,500 and that is when we started helping,' he said.
The boy later passed away from the H1N1 flu and members of SEAR served as pallbearers at his funeral.
The SEAR Poker Run and Party will take place on Sat. May 1, with participants meeting at Who's On Third pub in Redcliff at 11:00 a.m.
The fourth annual Dead Hog Boogie will take place from June 25-27.
