Centennial Park was crowded with adults and children on Father’s Day during the annual Bow Island Friends of the Library Children’s Festival - and even the sun turned out in support of the fun event.
Young people enjoyed everything from the train ride to bubbles and getting their faces painted to spray-on hair colour. There was plenty to do and see, and a lot of people came out during what has been the nicest weekend in a long time to take part.
Hometown boys Clark and Laurence Schaufele along with Natalie Dyck performed several numbers for the people who crowded around the staging area as did HOJA.
Friends Forever Puppets entertained wide-eyed children with a bevy of guests, from grandpas to furry little fellows with happy songs to sing.
Gustavo the Impossibilist had everyone laughing as he teased the ‘nasty kids’ and their parents as well, ending his act by lighting himself - or at least his stilts - on fire, then escaping from the knots a helpful audience member tied around him.
Slingshot and his pal amazed the young ones who watched their act and made them laugh as well with their antics.
With cotton candy, bubbles and dandelion fluff on the breeze and a warm southern Alberta day, this year’s Children’s Festival seemed to go off without a hitch - and best of all it left attendees smiling.
