If you get a phone call from someone identifying him or herself as a member of the Legion and that person requests a donation from you, don’t do it. It is a scam.

A local veteran recently received a call from a person who said they were calling on behalf of the Legion asking for a $50 donation.

Carol Maxwell, who along with her husband, Terrie, has been active with the Legion for several years explained this is not Legion policy.

“This is a scam, one that has been going on for quite some time.  The Legion at any level  does not call members or the general public requesting donations,” she said.
