Four girls from Cypress County will be participating in a provincial ringette tournament later this month as the Berger's Plumbing and Heating Fusion will host the U-12 tourney at the Kinplex in Medicine Hat on March 26-28. Dana Blasetti, along with twins, Abby and Toby Drozdz will be competing for the host team and Erica Brost, also from Cypress County will be competing in the tournament for the Medicine Hat Dione Todd Re/Max Realty team. Eight teams representing the different zones in the province will be attending. "There are nine zones, but one team has expressed that they will probably not be coming. We will get to play northern teams that we do not normally get to play through the season," said Paul Blasetti. The team will be hosting the U-12 provincial tournament on March 26-28 at the Kinplex in Medicine Hat. A special opening ceremony to welcome all the players will take place at the Medicine Hat College on the Friday evening. "We will be putting on an air band presentation and each team will perform a song," he said. The opening ceremony commences at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 26 at the Medicine Hat College theatre. The tournament is free to the public and Blasetti encourages people to come out and support the local girls and learn more about the sport of ringette. |
