It might smell a little swampy, but it won’t hurt you.
There have been some complaints around the Town of Bow Island lately about the smell and taste of the town water. Town manager, Anna-Marie Bridge, said the problem is the town is still drawing water from the south raw water reservoir instead of lateral 20. Usually by now the town would be utilizing lateral 20, but because of the extreme amount of rain this year and since farmers aren’t drawing from the lateral, the water has not been cleaned out by SMRID yet and is in as bad as or worse condition as the south reservoir, which has an algae problem. “We are treating it with chemicals. You can only increase the dosage a certain amount,” she said. “Until lateral 20 clears up, we will be staying on the south reservoir.” However, the water is regularly tested and passed all government codes. |
