Rising waters and widespread flooding in Cypress County forced officials to close the Trans Canada Highway from the Saskatchewan border to east of Dunmore and emergency response crews were working to evacuate area residents from their homes, with boats and helicopters being the only means of access to many properties.

This farm located on the east side of Highway 41 South is submerged under water after creeks flowing out of the Cypress Hills burst their banks. A state of emergency was declared in Cypress County at 10:01 a.m. on Friday morning. Cypress County emergency services crews, RCMP and the regional emergency response team used helicopters and boats to rescue area residents from remote areas.
Don Wong's saskatoon farm is completely underwater as the flooding erupted in Cypress County Friday morning. Wong managed to get some vehicles to higher ground before the water engulfed his property,
The water was rising fast at the junction of the Trans Canada highway and Highway 41 South, west of Irvine on Friday morning, closing down the Trans Canada Highway, Highway 41 South and several secondary highways |
