An increase in government grant funding will help people in the province who rely on the use of wheelchairs to make their homes wheelchair-friendly. The Alberta government announced last week that it was increasing the Residential Access Modification program (RAMP) from $5,000 to $7,500 to assist low-income Albertans who use wheelchairs to make home modifications, such as additions of ramps or lifts, door widening, flooring changes, and bathtub door inserts.

Town of Bow Island council passed first reading of their mill rate bylaw at their regular board meeting on May 12 and all indications show that ratepayers should not be seeing an increase in their general municipal mill rates when they receive their tax notices in a couple of months.
